Eligibility Criteria:
- An academic affiliation with Stony Brook University.
- Subspecialty fellows and residents (in the last year of clinical training) and junior faculty within three years of appointment (MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, DO/PhD) at Stony Brook Medicine.
- Must hold an appointment (or enrolled) at Stony Brook University throughout the two years of the program.
- Strong interest and aptitude for clinical or translational research.
- A firm written commitment from the trainee’s department (Chair or Division Head) that all necessary resources will be made available to the trainee, including 75% protected time (50% for applicants in surgical specialties) with demonstrable reductions in clinical, teaching, and administrative responsibilities (as needed); research space; computer equipment.
- Identification of a research project
- Identification of a mentor/mentoring team.
Strong preference is given to candidates with evidence of prior research productivity (ex. published manuscripts, abstracts, presentations or documentation of research work experience). In addition, the mentoring environment, mentoring plan and commitment of the mentor are major factors to be considered by the admissions committee. Start date is July 1, 2025 and support for year 2 for the program is contingent on meeting the milestones. If you are unsure if you should apply, please contact the program coordinator Kimberly Malamutt (kimberly.malamutt@stonybrookmedicine.edu).
All application materials must be submitted by December 15, 2024 (5:00pm EST).
